Service Description:
|
Dental disease prevention services for adults and children who do not have a family dentist. Limited restorative services are available on referral from our preventive clinic * Emergency services not available
Dental students perform dental disease prevention services under the supervision of registered dental hygienists and dentists including: examinations * x-rays (if required) * thorough teeth cleaning * fluoride treatments * placement of enamel sealant materials (if required)
Specialty services include: Fitting of custom mouth guards for sports activities and tooth whitening procedures * Limited restorative treatment of white and silver fillings is available for clients of the dental clinic who do not have a family dentist
Appointments are two hours in length and a series of appointments will be required to complete treatment

Eligibility / Target Population:
|
Program faculty in consultation with program administrators have discretionary power to determine client eligibility
To be eligible for treatment in the Dental Clinic, the following conditions must be met: * 6 years of age and older * oral condition and complexity of any overall health conditions are appropriate to meet student training/learning requirements * able to attend approximately 4-5 appointments of approximately 2 hours in length * provide 48 hours notice if canceling a scheduled appointment * exhibit appropriate personal behaviour towards students, staff, and other clients, including use of cell phones and other electronic devices
