Service Description: 24-bed integrated children's mental health centre providing residential treatment for high-risk adolescents

Mental Health Residential Program:
  • 16 residential placements for adolescents with emotional and behavioural difficulties 
  • 10 of these beds are for youth involved with child welfare
  • 6 beds are for families from the community and are accessed through Coordinated Access

Secure Treatment:
  • 8 beds for adolescents with a severe mental health disorder whose behaviours place them at imminent risk to harm themselves or others, and require intensive treatment in a secure environment

Day Treatment:
  • special education treatment program, in conjunction with local boards of education, serving youth who experience difficulties in the mainstream system due to behavioural problems
  • 4 classrooms
  • English and French

The Debbie Campbell Learning Academy:
  • Private School under the provincial Education Act providing specialized learning and behavioural intervention programs for adolescents with severe behaviour problems 
  •  students may earn a variety of Ontario Secondary School credits at the grade nine and ten level and remedial programs are offered for adolescents who are functioning at the elementary level (English only)

School-based Mental Health program:
  • mental health services in local high schools
  • individualized support to teens within the school setting as well throughout the summer months where needed
  • coordinates and refers teens for mental health services
  • supports social skills development and transitional support

Transition and Community Outreach:
  • Serves youth in the care of the Centre who are moving through key transition points in their development
  • assistance also provided to youth and families in the community where there is a risk of out-of-home placement, harm to self or others and other services are not available or appropriate
  • support needed to stay at home, to transition, to access other community support services and to assist in navigating into the adult mental health system

Fees: Set fees for some services only
Application: Referrals from parents, School Boards, Children's Aid Societies and youth-serving agencies
Eligibility / Target Population: At-risk adolescents between 12-18 years, presenting challenging mental health and behavioural struggles
