Service Description: Provides assessment and referral to appropriate programs, to determine the level of support needed * Portfolio Coordinators, Inclusive Recreation provide Leisure Counselling that connects clients to recreation programs and can facilitate support when necessary and available to enhance participation.

Programs offered in various community centres * programs take place throughout the city during the day, evening and weekends and include a wide range of options: community outings * social clubs * fitness * aquatics * summer camps for children, youth and adults * health and wellness * swimming lessons * After Four programs

In collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care, Service Coordination Support, Ottawa Children's Treatment Centre (CHEO), Ministry of Children and Community Support Services, Ministry of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture and several community organizations, the City of Ottawa hosts Therapeutic and Recreation Day Programs throughout the city. Full day programs currently being offered include:
  • ABI: Acquired Brain Injury Program
  • VARIETY: Adult day programs for people with developmental disabilities
  • RENDEZ-VOUS: French adult day program for people with developmental delay
  • SPIRIT: for medically fragile children

Fees: Set fees * Limited financial assistance available for city-operated programs via Ottawa Hand in Hand * Disability Tax Credit
Application: Adult therapeutic recreation day programs: Application is through Service Coordination at 613-748-1788 * Children and Youth Programs: Applications accepted at any Client Service Centre or at local Community Centres * Inclusive Recreation (such as subsidies): Call the Portfolio Coordinator, Inclusive Recreation in your district
