Service Description: The Ontario Renovates Program administered by the City’s Housing Services Branch, provides limited funding to low income seniors who own their home and to people with disabilities for essential home repairs and accessibility modifications to support independent living.

The program is also available to qualifying landlords to modify their existing units or buildings to make them more accessible to eligible seniors and persons with disabilities

Consists of two sub-components:
Home Repair to assist low income senior or people with disabilities home owner households: Essential repairs and/or modifications to make the home safer, more accessible and more energy efficient may be considered.

Multi-Unit Rehabilitation to assist: Landlords of eligible affordable rental projects to modify units to increase accessibility and essential repairs.

Modifications to increase accessibility related to housing and reasonably related to the occupant's disability including: ramps * handrails * chair and bath lifts * height adjustments to counter tops * cues for doorbells/fire alarms

Eligibility / Target Population: Homeowners who are 65 years of age or older, persons with disabilities and/or families with a household member(s) that have a disability, may qualify for assistance, if the property is eligible and if the total gross annual income of the household is less than the maximum income limits below.

Eligibility of Property:
Your property may be eligible for the program if your home is:
* Valued under $670,908 as determined by the Multiple Listing Service (MLS®) and verified by the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation;
* The home is the sole and principal residence;
* For landlord/tenant households, the unit must be modest and the rent not exceed the Average Market Rent for Ottawa
