Volunteer-run network made up of LGBTQ older adults * Committed to creating safe, LGBT-positive seniors’ services & programs, and residential environments through education, advocacy, and outreach. * working to build a strong connected, visible senior queer community in Ottawa
Training Team: senior volunteer trainers organize and present workshops and professional development sessions to employees and volunteers working in centres and agencies for seniors, palliative care services, specialized foster care homes and home support agencies
Housing Development Committee: Explores affordable LGBT-friendly housing options in the region that are, or that might become, available. Identifying appropriate LGBT-friendly resources so that LGBT seniors can stay in their homes longer * survey results on LGBT seniors are available on the website
Social Spaces Committee: Organizes various types of events for the senior LGBT community * bowling, dances, movie and pub nights * participates in Pride Parade celebrations * see website for events and current groups
End of Life Care: Advocacy and education on topics related to doctor-assisted death and palliative care * movie nights, round tables and a series of workshops On Dying
Communication Committee: Communication to new members and external organizations via website, Facebook page and emails.
Inclusion Committee: dedicated to moving toward health equity for older LGBTQ community by working for inclusive policy development and implementation
