Service Description: Literacy/essential skills instruction * provides adults with training in reading, writing, math, and computer skills to help learners get the needed skills to find or keep a job, go on to further education, or increase their independence, enter into apprenticeship * the main focus is on unemployed adults; however, it is also open to employed Ontarians who need to improve their literacy skills in order to maintain or upgrade their work skills * educational/literacy assessments

Eligibility / Target Population: Individuals 19 years and older (some exceptions may apply), out of school and lacking the literacy skills necessary to find and keep a job or to meet everyday needs * must be able to demonstrate progress * learners may participate in one-on-one tutoring sessions and/or small/large groups depending on learning needs as determined at the time of assessment * Agency specializes in vocational training
