Residents can dispose of their Household Hazardous Waste at any of the one-day Household Hazardous Waste Depots. Call or visit the website for time, date and location
Products accepted: Waste such as left-over oil based paints, pesticides, turpentine, aerosol containers, fire extinguishers, pool chemicals, insecticides, herbicides, fungicides, stains, wood preservatives, furniture stripper, barbecue starter, oven cleaner, window cleaner, disinfectants, used needles and syringes * Radioactive waste and explosive materials are not accepted
Flares, bullets, explosive devices, ammunitions, firearms and fireworks can cause severe injury or death, and should not be thrown in your garbage. To dispose of these materials safely, contact Ottawa Police at 613-230-6211 * Police will come and make sure all necessary safety precautions have been taken to dispose of these items
Take it Back! Program: More than 700 Ottawa retailers take back over 100 different products for recycling, reuse and/or proper disposal. These products include hazardous and household wastes such as expired medication, used needles and syringes, car batteries, motor oil, dry cleaner bags, clothes hangers, computers and components.
