Service Description:
|
Short-term structured program for males (at the time of offense), who have been detained by a court order or ordered to serve a disposition of open custody and open detention
Case management plan is developed for each youth, and includes:
- regular schooling within the unit
- life skills training
- assessment of skills and strengths
- counselling
- case conferences to determine planning for discharge
- Youth also participate in a social skills and life skills programming which includes sessions on addictions
- sexuality
- self-esteem
- anger management
- job search
- financial literacy
- goal setting
- problem solving
Open residence, two purposes:
- Open Custody Facility, for youth ordered to serve a disposition under the Youth Criminal Justice Act
- Place of Detention, for youth temporarily detained by the court

Youth are referred to the unit by the courts, probation officers, the police or other detention/custody facilities
